One of the first milestones in our lives is learning to walk. We started by crawling, then learned to stand up. People would hold our hands and help us walk around the room because we didn’t have the stability to do it ourselves. And before long we were walking on our own. There is a lot to learn when it comes to walking and walking by faith isn’t any different.
When we take those first steps, we often stumble and fall. That happens in our faith as well. We want to run like those around us, but we can’t because we can barely even walk. It becomes frustrating, and in the beginning, we may even give up. But those stumbles teach us something. They teach us that we have to have balance. We have to watch out for stumbling blocks, uneven ground, and pits that can consume us. And those stumbles also teach us that we have a lot to learn.
Before long we are walking with confidence and beginning to jog. Toddlers learn to do this by watching others. So it is in our faith. We look at those who have been walking by faith for years. We talk with them, study with them, pray with them, and grow with them. Soon our jog becomes a run, and we become a support to new believers. Because our body has been strengthened, we are then able to strengthen the body of Christ.
But walking does us no good if we don’t know where we are going. Walking aimlessly is one way to end up lost. It’s also a way to end up in a dangerous situation. Fortunately, we aren’t left on our own to figure this out. We have God’s Word and the Holy Spirit to guide our steps. They work together as a spiritual GPS so that we can know the straight paths, the paths of righteousness, and the paths that lead us away from destruction.
So how do we move past crawling to walking in the path of life? We study God’s Word. We read it, memorize it, share it, and read it again. We spend time with fellow believers and learn from them. We pray and seek God’s guidance in our lives. And we walk by faith that God is who He says He is and is going to do the things He says He can do. This world is all too happy to lead us astray, and it will succeed if we aren’t intentional about seeking God.
We are called to not just talk the talk but to walk the walk. Our faith is not to be kept hidden or to remain stagnant, but instead, it is meant to be lived and breathed, to flourish and to be a light that shines into every dark corner of this world. Here you will find a place to learn, to grow, to walk stronger and bolder than you ever have before. Various Bible studies will be posted here with free files that can be printed along with some teaching videos. Do the studies with a group from your church, as a small group of friends, or even by yourself. God’s Word was meant to be shared so feel free to share this site with your friends who want to study the Bible with you. Keep walking, sister!
